I (21F) met a guy in September. We worked together at an event for 3 days. He’s nice, we got along and I love his smile! It turns out he is doing the same studies and is in the same year as me! (We’re not in the same subgroup tho)

It’s November now and sadly, I only saw him once since: at uni, we said hi in the hallway for 2 seconds. I tried initiating convos via text 2-3 times (like “hey, what did you think of the exam?” or “how’s your semester going so far?”), but his replies are short/dry. Tbh I don’t really think he likes me back, but I still want to ask him out for coffee! You miss all the shots you don’t take.

But I’m scared because if he rejects me, it’ll be horribly awkward to be around him in the future if we are in the same subgroup.

How can I text him out of the blue to ask him out without being weird? How should I act around him if he rejects me? (Avoid him like the plague? Act like nothing happened? Move to a different country and change my name? JK)

  1. Kudos for wanting to shoot your shot. You can be pretty straightforward with your shot btw.

If a waiter asks a table if they want dessert, the waiter won’t take it personally if they say no. It is what it is. Be like the waiter.

  2. the question is what are you going to regret more: not asking him or possibly getting rejected and it feeling awkward after?
