I’m just curious about what the general consensus is about approaching strangers. Specifically men approaching women. Recently I’ve heard some conflicting takes from women about men approaching them, some are fine with it some aren’t.

Is it okay to go up to a woman, and try to strike up a conversation, at the train station?

Or even just out in public anywhere?

Or like the other day I was at the skatepark with my buddies and I noticed a girl was alone doing her own thing (we both rollerskated which I thought was cool to see since it’s sorta rare at the skatepark). Would it have been inconsiderate to go up and introduce myself?
