I mean it’s easy to live in a fantasy world and behind a screen but to actually go through with it (especially when inexperienced) is really fucking scary. So I would maybe try to reset the expectations to a more let’s get drinks and see what happens thing vs you are meeting specifically to hook up. He’s probably just scared but really wanting it to happen.
I would try to set up a meeting and state that there will be no sex at this meeting. See if there is chemistry. Agree to get tested and be monogamous FWBs.
