My wifes from North Africa. 3 doctors from there are telling her sex after pregnancy will kill the child. She might be like 10 days pregnant right now. The doctors said it’s safe after like 7 months. I tried to explain this is not accurate from my understanding. She’s convinced tho, and thinks im willing to kill our unborn child. Any doctors in this community that can chime in? Any help is appreciated.

  1. this isn’t true. as long as you aren’t too rough or aren’t hitting her cervix it should be fine.

  2. Sex is generally safe during a normal pregnancy. There can sometimes be medical issues or high risk factors that can lead to doctors recommending not having sex (and many other activities). It’s difficult to answer these types of questions without knowing someones medical history.

My opinion, if 3 medical doctors who have examined her have said this, there could be a medical reason why, and they should have stated this to her. Find out what that is. If you have that information, I recommend re-posting on r/askadoc for verified medical opinions.

  3. /r/sex is not capable of providing substantial medical advice because we cannot verify the credentials of those who provide it. The *real* answer here is that if you want medical advice, you need to seek a medical professional in person.

    That said,

A *problematic* pregnancy (for a woman who has difficulties going full term) can totally have recommendations to avoid sex.
