Of course I understand that I may be one person at my work, one person at family get-togethers and one person around my friends.

However, I have recently noticed that I feel and act a little different around different friends. I’d say I have four close friends, and although I do genuinely enjoy hanging out with all of them, it feels like I may act a little differently around them. I don’t share the same stuff with all of them, some parts I want to share with Friend 1 and 2 but keep from Friend 3 and 4 and the other way around. I also notice that around my friend who is a little ‘calmer’ by nature I act more calmly, whereas with my more ‘hyper’ friend I become more hyper.

It feels like I cannot hang out with all four of them at once because I share different stuff with different friends and I want to keep it that way. I prefer hanging out one on one anyway. Is this something bad?

Does all of this mean I am never truly myself? If so, what can I do to change that fact? I hope this makes sense and that it isn’t a stupid question.
