I’m realizing I don’t know too much about what body language signals that someone is willing to talk. I am very lonely and desperate to talk to people so I find myself striking up conversations with people, etc. and never ask myself about their body language. What types of body language indicate that someone is okay with me going up to them and saying hi and talking, and what types of body language indicate otherwise?

  1. You can’t learn those thing by reading. They are really subtle and difficult to put into words. It’s like you can’t explain to someone how to ride a bicycle and then have them magically being able to ride it.

You need to train by interacting. It takes a long time but you will learn slowly. Just continue to interact with people.
