When you tell someone something along the lines of “if you need to talk hit me up anytime”.

Does anyone literally mean hit me up anytime? Maybe it’s me but It kinda annoys me when I tell people this, we grow apart and then somewhere months even year down the line they decide they now want to speak after no contact.

What do you mean when you say this and when does that invitation expire

  1. that’s what hit me up anytime to talk means man, regardless of the situation if you need someone, I’m here, maybe you should not make those offers to people if you don’t like carrying them out?

  2. Well, if you say “anytime” I guess that means whenever – even weeks or months later.

  3. You don’t throw around the term like it means nothing,
There’s a term called low maintenance friends, who don’t need to take for days or months or years, but are always there for each other.
You are either saying it to the wrong people. Or you are the wrong person to say it, thats upto you to introspect and analyze.

  4. dont tell it to ppl u dont trust, there are a handfull of ppl that can hit me up at anytime they need something. For the rest of ppl, i just dont offer it. So if u give the offer, it means just that, u can hit me up anytime u need something.

  5. I would personally leave it as an open invitation, like if someone was struggling to maintain friendships and was falling through the cracks a bit I’d respect that they probably couldn’t be friends with me at the time but let them know they could reach out later and I’d try to be there to listen
