How did you deal with a dad that was absent from their child’s life for a long time time, then decided to pop and be a dad again?

3. Well, I used to hold bitterness and resent but that turned to apathy. Now, I’m trying to honor my ancestors and spiritually it doesn’t sit right with me to honor my bloodline while ignoring a significant person in my DNA. So, I text him daily and we’ve gotten closer.

   I’ve learned a lot about why things were how they were, and therapy helps me with the rest of it all. He’s not a bad person and he’s never done wrong by me, but he doesn’t feel like my dad. He feels like an uncle that I heard about growing up and have seen a handful of times.
