Hi all, I’m a 24M who has recently left a job that I loved working as a general tradesman (lighting, flooring, garage conversions, loft conversions, renovating houses etc.) as I couldn’t stand working with my colleague any longer, but he always took the lead finding jobs etc. as the business was his.

Now I’m alone so I’m limited as to what I can do (I can’t do garage/loft conversions etc.) but I’m ready and willing to do bathroom/kitchen renovations, tiling jobs, lighting etc. and have spent significant time and money finding people online/on Bark to provide really fair quotes but no-one is getting back to me despite me being available immediately. It’s been tough on the finances and I’m sick of spending money, going to people’s houses, developing rapport etc. but then getting ghosted. I’m professional, turn up on time and polite so I don’t think it’s me? I’m offering to do tough jobs for a fraction of the price we used to quote people too. Sure we also went through quiet periods but I won’t be able to get any big jobs anymore to compensate.

It’s really getting me down and I have no idea what to do – I don’t want to apply for any old job as I love the work I do. I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who may have been in a similar position to me before? Or from the general public – where do you look for builders etc. Anything is much appreciated!
