I don’t use Apple Music enough to be paying more. Are there any free alternatives (to be used without Wi-Fi)

  1. Piracy, bandcamp, youtube with adblock, Spotify with adverts if you’re strong as fuck

  2. Spotify as it comes bundled in my contract phone. Will most likely swap to amazon music seeing as It’s bundled with prime and never use it

  3. I know people who share a Spotify family account between a group of mates who chip in monthly by standing order. £16.99 for 6 accounts

  4. You could go “old-school” and listen to CDs, vinyl, cassette tapes, or radio. I’ve also ripped some of my CD collection onto my hard drive, so the option is there to listen off-line if my web connection is lost.

  5. Youtube Music, if you have a VPN you can pay £2-4 a month, there is no geo-blocking and I pay using my UK card.

There are a few free vpn’s on the chromestore, the cheapest tend to be asian countries iirc

  6. Spotify has a free sub, although it’s not as flexible/useful as a paid one. Otherwise, Amazon Music is very good. Or just grab all the songs you like from Youtube, download them as MP3s (there are plenty of websites that will do it – just supply the URL), and listen to them on a local device.

  7. We use Spotify, with the family subscription you get 5 premium accounts for £15 a month. So I have it, my wife has her own account, and my two brothers and parents have the other three.

Not *strictly* cricket as they’re all supposed to be used by people at the same address but, like sharing Netflix passwords, what’re they gonna do?

  8. Don’t apple music have a family version like Spotify? That way you can get a bundle of 6 accounts for £15-ish.

  9. Spotify from Poland and Youtube Premium from Argentina, because I am a citizen of the world :).

  10. I pay for YouTube Premium through my VPN. Costs be about £1.50 a month. No YouTube ads, YouTube music thrown in too and it’s almost as good as Spotify, it just doesn’t have podcasts.

  11. I use an app called NewPipe it’s a YouTube front end, it’s free and you can watch YouTube videos with no ads.

It comes with a download button so you can download your songs to your phone (or videos if you want to save videos to watch offline).

  12. If you’ve got Amazon prime anyway their music service is pretty decent and doesn’t cane your data. I had plenty for a one a week binge with a 500mb a month data limit

  13. I’ve not updated my debit card for Spotify and it’s been playing my favourite’d playlists, albums and songs for a few months now although it plays through the app and not the dedicated car media player when I’m driving. I don’t actually mind paying for it but I’m waiting untill they cut me off because I’m as stubborn as I am right

  14. My own purchased music, or the radio.

I don’t pay for any music subscription service, where you have to keep paying to listen your own library.

  15. They couldn’t pay me to use Apple Music, fuck ugly sack of shit software. Get Spotify, look into splitting a family plan with mates.

  16. Just bite the bullet and get Spotify Premium, there isn’t really a comparable solution that doesn’t involve some degree of fucking about to work properly.

If you use it enough, then its worth what you pay. Sometimes its also worth paying for a solution that just works.
