Hi everyone. I've recently graduated from a non-target school in the UK with a First class honors degree…

19th, 12th would be this Saturday
Mind you you should still clarify
19th
Otherwise it’s ‘this saturday’
19th as above, 12th would be this Saturday.
But I’d still clarify with them
Probably a question you should ask the person and not the internet
I’m not leaving that up to chance. I’m specifically asking them what day they want to go out.
12th is **this** Saturday
19th is **next** Saturday
19th.
12th is ‘this Saturday’, or just ‘Saturday’
My default would be 12th but have been caught out often enough that I would clarify it
If I said it myself I’d mean the 19th. But I wouldn’t say it normally because it’s ambiguous.
If someone said it to me, I would ask them to clarify!
19/11 otherwise they would have said “this Saturday”
19th
The 12th is “this Saturday” or simply “Saturday”
Depends when they ask. If they asked on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, I’d assume they meant the very next day that was a Saturday. If they asked on Thursday or Friday, I’d tend to assume they meant in 9 or 8 days’ time, and would ask for clarification. Actually, I’d ask for clarification in all cases.
I would guess the 19th but not count on it and would always ask whether they mean “the Saturday coming, or the one after?”
Next Saturday is the 19th, to contrast with “This Saturday” the 12th.
But, you should always clarify
Best bet is to go for a drink both saturdays just incase.
19th,12th would be this Saturday
19th, this Saturday is 12th
19th
12th would be just “Saturday” or “this Saturday”

Brings this to mind
“this saturday” == 12th
“next saturday” == 19th
I would understand 12th as next Saturday.
But maybe it’s because English is not my first language and that would be how I would say it.
Yes, it has caused some fiascos
In this thread, 200 people say the exact same thing instead of just upvoting the guy who said what they were going to say themselves.
“19th, 12th would be this Saturday. You should still clarify though”
19th…. That 12th is THIS Saturday
Definitely 19th, 12th is “this Saturday”.
I would go with the majority ( it’s the 19th ) but I usually say: THIS Saturday (12th ) or a WEEK ON Saturday (19th ) to be clear.
I don’t know, but I sure as shit am going to use the confusion to weedle out of it.
I always ask which date. Because THE next Saturday is this one. But NEXT Saturday isn’t this one, it’s the next one.
I’d assume 19th but I’d clarify to be 100% sure
19th. Next Saturday is next week.
12th would just be Saturday
I would clarify. Some of this depends on the emphasis, if they say “are you free *next* Saturday” it certainly suggests skipping this coming Saturday. If it is said more casually it could really mean either. More likely 19th I’d say, but I’d want to be sure.
12th is the next Saturday so…..
I’d assume the following week but ask to be sure. If it was Monday next Saturday would be the 12th to me.
‘Also’ is implied.
Growing up in South London, I would have said next Saturday is the 12th. Now I’ve moved more north, next Saturday is the 19th. Many arguments with the gf over this, as I used to say ‘When is the NEXT Saturday you find yourself waking up on?’.
Didn’t wash. Now I just accept that ‘Saturday week’ isn’t an expression here!
The 12th, as that is the next Saturday, if it’s the 19th, they mean a week on Saturday
Saturday 19th
