what are the common short term courses in America that do not include academic requirements but should?

  1. A computer literacy and safety course. Just basic stuff. You’d be surprised how easy it is to get people (even young people that grew up with tech) to fall for a phishing scam.

  2. There is no course for the general public, administered by the state, that should require academic distinctions. Only more serious testing at passage. It doesn’t fucking matter if there is a technical difference between a traffic circle and a roundabout, what matters is that you can drive properly and know to be awake sober undistracted.

I have no idea if you meant something else, but I have extremely low respect for state mandated tests, and just hope they barely do their job, and I’m not going to delegate further authority until the work better.
