When did you start feeling like a real man amongst other men?

  1. When you actually start earning money that can allow you to live am independent life and move out and live on your own

  2. I have no idea what this means or why it matters. My worth as a person doesn’t come from being more of a man than other men.

  3. My guess is what you are looking for is when did I start feeling independent and confident? To start feeling like an adult male vs a “kid.” I would say it was when I was self reliant and didn’t need to lean on anyone to survive. This isn’t just about money, it is about knowledge, experience, resources, friends, etc (and a little bit of financial stability). I was probably about 25 before I really felt it.

Living on my own, shared apartment with friends. Full time regular job, owned my car, no bad debt. I no longer needed to lean on anyone to get by. I wasn’t living high on the hog, but I was making it.

  4. – Understanding dads with my own experience of how much responsibility for my younger siblings was put on me

    – Being served in pubs without being ID’d at 16 because of my beard and dress style, used to chat with blokes 10 or more years older than me regularly

    – Bonding with blokes quite a bit older than me over music

  5. I’ll be 30 next month, own my own farm, been married to my high school sweetheart for 6 years, run a successful construction company, and hold several state masters licenses in my field. I can and do build homes, vehicle engines, and fine wooden furniture. I can weld, cut, and fabricate steel in my shop. I can hunt, fish, and butcher everything between a squirrel and a beef. Yet I still feel like a kid around the old guys, often I feel like a kid around the young guys until they start talking in those made up words.

  6. In a group of guys, people defer to you to make decisions for the group. Everyone looks your way when someone addresses the group. It happens all of a sudden like overnight. You also start calling people out on their bullshit and arent afraid of controntation when it needs to happen

  7. This may sound really superficial, but try putting on a suit. It’s weird how much more you feel like a man when you’re wearing a suit.
