which of the tv shows/movies helped you undersntad more about healthy relationships/friendships and why?

  1. It’s dramatized fiction. It’s there to rot culture and entertain rubes. If you think you’ll get anything useful out of it, you are an idiot.

  2. Bojack Horseman. Even though most of the relationships shown are NOT healthy, they deal with the problems in an extremely real and honest way. It can be painful to watch sometimes, because they show pain and trauma and poor choices in a way that makes you *feel* it, and every character in the show is flawed in some way… Just like real people. A negative example can teach you as much as a positive example.

  3. Noah Baumbach‘s movies are generally great at depicting relationships: They’re honest and while not necessarily positive, they still show people trying their best.

  4. Here’s what I said in the thread [What father from a movie or TV show do you think is the best example of how fatherhood should be?](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskMen/comments/x9ifyj/what_father_from_a_movie_or_tv_show_do_you_think/inphmm9/) a couple of months ago. I stand by everything I said then.

    >Kyle Chandler as Eric Taylor in Friday Night Lights.

    >The whole show is about values, how he becomes a father figure for his players, teaches them how to be a good teammate, a good son/brother.

    >I watched this show when I was in dire need of guidance and it sure helped. I can’t stress enough how good of an example it sets for young men (and frankly young women as well). It’ll teach you how to deal with injury, loss, love, even abandonment. There is a question today in r/AskMen about how long to wait before sex with the wife after birth. That’s addressed in the show as well!

    >The coach and his wife (played by the amazingly sensitive Connie Britton) are the ultimate couple I want to emulate. Rock solid and adding so much value to the people around them, their community.

    >The show features some young actors whom you might recognise the name of. Actors like Jesse Plemons and Michael B. Jordan.

    >If you’re a young person, do yourself a favour and watch that show. Anywhere between 15 and 25 and I guarantee you will learn a thing or two. And if you’re over 25 don’t worry, you can watch too. The way they deal with situations, the tact that they have, oh man there’s so much to emulate. I can’t recommend it enough.

  5. Boston Legal. Denny Crane
& Alan Shore. A real bromance of 2 guys whose friendship came across the screen as so real. Two men not afraid to tell each other “I love you” without being embarrassed by it.

  6. None of them. The Hollyweird people who produce and write them are some of the sickest, most dysfunctional people in the world.
