So I \[M, 18\] tend to have these periods (if you can call them that) of high and low self esteem. Typically what happens is get a boost of self esteem for a few days, were I feel happy and talkative and optimistic, but then after a few days, I get sad and low before eventually becoming happy again.

The reason why I’m posting this on the social skills subreddit is because these surges of higher self esteem tend to occur after a social outing, like a night out with friends. So I was wondering, how do I stay in the periods of higher self esteem for a longer period of time?

I’ve also noticed that these periods of both high and low self esteem are corelated with my dating life. I’m a dateless, kissless virgin and when I’m in these periods of high self esteem, I develop this optimism that yes, one day I will get “there” iykwim, and then during the periods of lower self esteem, I have a much more pessimistic outlook on such experiences. Any help is appreciated.

  1. Yeah you need to focus on working on your inner self and stop relying on external validation. For a long time i also had great highs and great lows which were solely dependent on women
