Basically the title, what do you perceive to be most popular beverages of Coca clCola to be in the US?

Here in Austria (imo)it would go something like this: Coca Cola original, Fanta (which seems to be way less popular in the US, at least in my experience from several fast food joints), Cola Zero, und Coca Cola light (Coke Zero and diet coke respectively), Sprite and maybe Mezzo Mix.

Would love to know if the special variants of coke like cherry or vanilla coke are more popular than here(you can get them but most stores don’t have them.)

Please excuse my terrible English

  1. I see fanta at every gas station and usually the orange one is an option on drink machines at fast food places.

  2. I don’t think it’s that different. Coca-Cola is definitely also at the top here. Sprite is really popular and maybe second. Barq’s root beer is owned by them so that would be high up, but a lot of other brands also make root beer. Coke zero and diet coke would probably be ahead of Fanta, but that’s just a guess. You can get cherry coke at pretty much any store, and maybe vanilla as well.

Sidenote: I love Mezzo Mix but only specialty/import stores have it, and the Fanta over there is better

  3. Diet Coke is the most popular and Coca Cola is the 2nd most popular. This just isn’t my anecdotal take it’s also a fact. Factor Coke products in that are from McDonald’s and those taste amazing.

  4. According to [this 2021 Newsweek article](https://www.newsweek.com/most-popular-sodas-america-1628796), Coke (the original), and Diet Coke are #1 and #2 respectively, in the US over all other sodas. (Though as I look more closely, Diet Coke is the revenue leader.) Unless my Google Fu has failed me, there are only two other Coca Cola products in the top 10 – Fanta and Sprite. Nothing else in the top 10, even Pepsi ($15 billion), comes close to Diet Coke or Coke in terms of revenue ($37 billion apiece).

No need to apologize for your English. I took DuoLingo German for 15 days before giving up. I’d apologize in German, but I never made it that far.

  5. Just guessing but I would say

    1. Coca-Cola Classic
    2. Diet Coke
    3. Sprite (including diet Sprite)
    4. Coke Zero
    5. Barqs (including diet Barqs)
    6. Fanta

Then after that would be all the flavored varieties including the different Fanta flavors.

Fanta was created by Coca-Cola Deutschland for during WWII (Coca-Cola would prefer you not look too closely into that) and is more tuned to European taste profiles and is also much more promoted there. That’s why it isn’t very popular here in America.

Your English is much better than most of our (nonexistent) German – you have nothing to apologize for!

  6. Regular and diet Coke are definitely the most popular. I used to work somewhere that sold cans of pop and we had limited room so we carried regular Coke, diet Coke, Sprite and ginger ale because the first 3 are most popular and it was on a boat, so ginger ale can help with nausea. Root beer is probably the next most popular? If you go somewhere with fountain drinks I think they usually have regular, diet, sprite, root beer and lemonade. Flavored Cokes, like cherry or vanilla are popular, but you don’t see them that often in places with limited stock (like restaurants). I think it’s because people who want those will also be happy with regular Coke, so it’s not worth the extra space they would need to carry it. At a convenience store they’re probably more popular, but that might be my bias because I like cherry Coke. In my experience Fanta isn’t that popular, I rarely see people drinking it. I haven’t heard of Mezzo Mix.

Any supermarket is going to have Cherry Coke, Vanilla Coke, etc. but Coke, Diet Coke, and Coke Zero outsells them.

I personally don’t understand who is buying full calorie soda in 2022. Drinking that many calories just seems insane to me, especially when Coke Zero tastes close enough without the calories.

  8. Diet Coke

I think that will only continue to grow. Generally speaking people now realize how bad surgary sodas are for you and I suspect that more people will consume zero calorie beverages in place of surgary ones.

Look at all the new zero calorie beverages. It’s the future of coca cola

  9. I love the new Coke – Free Style dispensers with different variations. Lemon Coke and Orange Coke are my new favorites.

  10. Probably coke and Diet Coke. Honestly I prefer Pepsi though. Diet Coke is better than Diet Pepsi, but Cherry Pepsi is way better than cherry coke. My 2 cents, at least. Lol

  11. I don’t buy many Coke products… I drink mostly ginger ale (Vernors is the best, but hard to find around here, so I’m usually stuck with Canada Dry).

  12. Coke, Cherry Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Pibb Xtra.

MelloYello is popular in some markets, but isn’t ubiquitous…it was primarily east-coast until 2021, and it has extreme competition from Pepsi due to Mountain Dew’s huge nationwide popularity. The second big competition is Pibb vs Dr Pepper (which is not a Pepsi product, though retailers treat it as one for grouping and special sale prices).

Fanta is well known, but only a 2% market share.

  13. Coca-Cola Classic is the most popular here. I’m a big fan of the Orange Vanilla Coca-Cola, but they discontinued it due to the Pandemic. Can only get Orange Vanilla now from Freestyle Coca-Cola machines in some restaruants. Instead they kept the nasty cherry vanilla flavor. I’m so sick of everything getting a fucking cherry flavor variant. Cherry flavoring is nasty. I will say I do like Vanilla Coca-Cola though and I’ll say it’s my favorite amoung the current production.

  14. I think you’ve gotten the answer by now.

Coca-Cola is more engrained into American culture. They’re about the same age. But it’s just something you notice if you go to those retro diners with all the 1950s-era memorabilia.

Personally, I prefer Coca-Cola because it has a more complex flavor to it. I only drink non-sugar sodas, so it’s Coca-Cola Zero Sugar for me. Outside of that, though, I don’t really pay attention to whether something is a Coke or a Pepsi product. My next choices are Barq’s Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, and 7-Up.

Edit to add: If you ever find yourself in Atlanta, the Coca-Cola Museum is a must see!
