  1. Why does it need to be a hatchback?? I would also go with a 2nd hand mondeo, but I’m tight as a crabs arse.

  2. Bought a Fiesta for herself a while back, all the bits you want and a few more as well. Miles are a bit high for the year but it cost a little less than the price you mentioned. Darned good car as well

  3. Everything except cruise control – I got a dacia sandero.

And you know what? It’s been perfect.

  4. 2015/16 VW polo – fantastic, reliable car and look pretty nice too IMO

It’s 5 seats, 3 or 5 door options, Bluetooth, touchscreen, cruise control, you’re sorted with one of those. Ample room in the back too

  5. Kia Picanto! Although not sure if newer models have cruise control, my 2017 doesn’t have it. But it does come with a 5 year warranty and only costs £20 a year road tax!

  6. Here’s 3207 options

  7. For what purpose? Motorway mile muncher, second car shopping trolley, city runaround, countryside cruiser? It’s been mentioned but VW Golf is a good bet, Ford Focus, Audi A3,

  8. Honda Civic 100%.

I got a 55 plate for £1500 a few years back so you can get a much newer version than me.

But mine still runs perfectly, it has all the features you list except Bluetooth connectivity (my one anyway, the newer ones surely will)

I fitted an aftermarket stereo so that sorted that.

The boot is huge considering the cars size. 1.8 petrol is plenty fast enough and relatively decent on fuel.

    Just a good all rounder.

Also has some extras such as panoramic sunroof, auto lights and wipers.

  9. Either a fiesta , or something built Japan/Korea. They might not make your pulse race but it’ll run for years . My lady just sold her 2005 civic , 160k on the clock, minimal maintenance costs and it was still running

  10. Seat leon alternatively the smaller ibiza

    Vw golf alternatively the polo

    Mazda 3 alternatively mazda 2

Nissan pulsar ntech spec has everything inlcudong a 360 view camera and is a good secondhand purchase (overpriced when new so wasn’t popular)

Leon/golf/skoda something are all the same car, just different body but you’ll pay the golf premium

  11. Mazda 2, could even get the GT sport version for under 10k and only 4-5 years old. Best car I’ve ever owned – now upgraded to a 6 because dogs.

  12. If you value reliability, then Honda (jazz or civic) or Toyota (yaris, auris/corolla)

If you value VFM then something from kia, hyundai, eg i30

If you like expensive repair bills, then some flavour of Audi or bmw

If you’re a bit of a loose cannon, then an alfa giuletta

If you hate life, then a vauxhall astra

  13. I bought a 10 year old honda civic when I was a student. I loved the car and it lasted me for 10+ years. It only cost me £3500.

My advice, buy a low mile older Japanese car.

  14. Toyota Auris, you might _just_ get a decent hybrid within budget. I had an entry level Corolla hybrid as a courtesy car not long ago and it was great, if I had to buy a car now and couldn’t afford an electric I’d go for an Auris or even a Corolla if I could stretch to that

  15. My Seat Mii has everything but the cruise control (which I miss sorely) but newer models might have it in. It’s ideal for city driving and fine for cross country driving; I had it 600 miles in 3 days recently and was mostly comfortable.

  16. Skoda Fabia, make sure you get the TSI engine (not MPI). TSI engines are made by VW and the same engines as you’d get in a VW Polo/Golf.
