What would you add in your resume that makes it stand out from the rest while being honest?

  1. I do resumes as a side hustle and one thing that’s underrated is a short summary at the top of the page that states who you are and your goals if you’re looking to switch to a new field. Especially if you hate cover letters, this can take care of all that.

  2. IDK if this is quite what you have in mind, but make the information easy to find.

If you know it’s important to the role, don’t make the recruiter dig through your jobs for it – create a separate section just for that. For instance, I’m in medical research and have a section that indicates what stage clinical trials I have run as well as what therapeutic areas I have experience in.

  3. I match my resume to the branding of the company I’m applying to in a subtle way to make myself look like a good fit. I’m a server, so what this usually looks like is making my resume look a bit like the menu of the restaurant I’m applying to. Then when I go to the interview I either match my outfit to the restaurant decor, copy one detail from the servers uniform, or both if I can swing it.
