What’s you go to meal that you cook for people?

  1. A thai influenced stir-fry with ground chicken, jalapenos, basil and chili garlic sauce (and a couple other things). Over rice.

  2. My wife is Latina of Mexican descent. Pretty much any time people come over, they want whatever she cooks. And of course, I help out.

  3. Breakfast: sourdough pancakes with bacon or sausage and eggs

Dinner: grilled salmon with a vegetable and seasoned sautéed sweet potatoes

  4. Home made red sauce with meatballs with a bone in pork roast and an appetizer of sausage and peppers in Madeira brown and red sauce

  5. Summer: grilled salmon and veggies, pilaf on the stove

Winter: either chilli or one of my soups

Breakfast: breakfast burritos or french toast

  6. If I say my curry! I am always scared that someone will ask me how to make it.

It takes me a day, but it lasts for many!

    Curry.

  7. Philly Cheese Steak. Learned how to master it when I used to work at an Italian restaurant in High School.

  8. I’m making Barbeque baked beans with ribs for family dinner on Sunday. Takes me nearly 2 days including an 8 hour slow bake in the oven.

  9. Butter chicken with rice and cucumber salad or Peruvian rotisserie chicken with green sauce, rice and beans. Desert depends on what type of season.

  10. Pork wellington, it is like beef wellington. But with a pork tenderloin, seared, cut in half long ways, filled in with dried apples, wrapped in prosciutto, brushed with mustard, then wrapped in pastry.

  11. Pasta with sauce. If you can’t eat fusilli with basic tomato sauce I won’t be inviting you back.

  12. I make a mean pasta sauce from scratch and decent chili. Those are good people pleasers for families.

  13. Slow cooked lamb shanks served on sweet potato mash with steamed veges.

Dessert, a home made apple crumble with french vanilla ice cream.

  14. Shoyu ramen with ajitsuke tamago, served with pork belly.

Home-raised chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, and buttered biscuits.

Tuna, garden peppers, roast carrot and snow pea pasta with a decadent white sauce seasoned with fresh garlic and various herbs.

  15. i make the best damn bowl of yogurt and a pretty mean oatmeal. although people are psychos about their oats on here

  16. Chicken or steak Marsala (from scratch) with roasted red peppers and mushrooms, grilled asparagus, and fettuccine

  17. Pasta with homemade meat sauce. Easy, tastes great, inoffensive, and impossible to fuck up. If they really enjoy it it also stores incredibly easy in a jar, so I can send them home with some too.

  18. Lunch or dinner:

    • Lasagna with veggies on the side.

    • Rice/Quinoa & beans with any meat or fish. Salad, 1/2 avocado, and strips of fried ripe plantain on the side.

    • Steak & mushrooms with mashed potatoes.

    • Plantains or (sweet) potatoes with steak or pork chops and a salad on the side.

    • Pasta with chicken or meatballs, plus veggies or a salad on the side. Tomato-based sauce.

    • Tres golpes, which are plantains with 3 sides (fried egg, fried salami, and frying cheese).

    • Mofongo (Google it)

    • Shepherd’s Pie with soup on the side.

    • Spiraled zucchini as a mock pasta, and I prefer it served with fish or chicken. Baked or grilled strips of seasoned tofu works as a meat substitute.

    • Mexican themed—tacos, burrito, or burrito bowl. Meat, fish, vegan, or vegetarian.

    • Vietnamese style summer rolls.

    • Indian style chicken tikka masala with rice, garlic naan, and vegetables on the side.

    • The Thanksgiving special (I have my preferences but pretty much everything is fair game).

    • The kiddie special (homemade mac & cheese, boneless chicken breast, homemade sweet potato fries).

    Dessert:

    • Rice pudding

    • Homemade pumpkin or sweet potato pie

    Breakfast:

    • French toast with maple syrup, plus sausage or bacon.

    • Oatmeal.

    • Pancakes with maple syrup and all of the works (whipped cream or butter, bacon or sausage, eggs, potatoes).

    • Mega omelette with toast or potatoes on the side (can be customized but I like to chop up a variety of veggies, dice up some sausage, and sprinkle some shredded cheese on top).

    • Any hot sandwich that requires actual cooking, like a Cuban, banh mi, or Philly cheesesteak.
