Yeah. My brother is a DJ and he uses vinyl. He plays in a few places around Boston.

Most DJs are using digital copies of songs. There may be a few out there that will use vinyls every now and again to be flashy or for superior sound quality of tracks.
Yeah, this is pretty common.
