What is your favorite brand of scotch you’ve ever tasted?

  1. Macallan 25 year. I’m not a scotch drinker most of the time, but when someone offers you a taste of $200 a bottle whiskey, you take it.

If you like bourbon I’ve recently tried Old Forester 1910 and it’s delightful.

  2. Ardbeg Uigeadail

It’s glorious and finishes forever. Not a first timer’s whiskey though.

  3. I was just about to ask a similar question where you guys could recommend me some not too expensive alcohol to try during Thanksgiving weekend

  4. Johnnie Walker King George V – spent an evening with a billionaire, ended up going through 2 bottles between a few of us.

  5. I’m more of a bourbon guy than scotch. Here in the US, a good bourbon is a bit less expensive than a good scotch. I like scotch, it’s just the price point that limits my experience.

Since my pallet is more bourbon, most scotches are different enough to me. I won’t buy JW red but sometimes Dewar 12 year by the handle just to have it. Parkland 12 is a decent affordable bottle. Aberlour is another decently priced good bottle. Money shoulder is popular as an entry level scotch that isn’t terrible.

There are much better scotches out there and I’ve had a few, but my pallet has a difficult time appreciating the difference between the better scotches from those that are mid range.

I can’t really pick a favorite, just like I can’t pick a favorite bourbon. Depends on what flavors I am wanting at the time.

  6. I once had the pleasure of doing several flights of scotch of the same brand from 10-21 years old. The difference is stunning. 10 years is basically firewater. 21 years is sublime. Whatever you’re favourite brand, wait for a big occasion and invest in an older bottle. You will be amazed.

  7. I’m a big fan of Macallan. 12 year is my go-to.

The best whiskey I’ve ever tasted was Pappy. That stuff is absolutely bonkers. Also the price tag.

  8. As a Scottish man myself Glenfidich or talisker are my faves. Honourable mention to jura origin if you can find it.

  9. Bruichladdich might not technically be the brand. But they make Octomore; the best scotch I’ve ever tried is Octomore 11.1. Then they also make a more affordable scotch that is my favorite in it’s price bracket Port Charlotte Heavily Peated Islay Single malt. And then it’s rumored that they make something in an even lower price bracket for Costco’s Kirkland brand, which is the same stuff as Port Charlotte Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt. But is simply Kirkland’s heavily peated islay whiskey.

  10. I have about 50 bottles in my collection. My go-to is Macallan 12 but Talisker is actually my current favorite. Cant go wrong with Lagavulin, I feel like it’s gone up in price a lot since being on Parks and Rec.

A lot of good choices in here, one of the rarest ones Ive got is a replica of the Mackinlay’s 1907 from the Antarctic Shackleton Expedition. Ive only ever seen one bottle in real life in a random mom/pop store and I immediately bought it.

  11. The Islay Scotches, Lagavulin, Laphroaig and Bunnahabhain (unsure of the spellings). Peaty, smokey and just superlative. I am a sucker personally for the Laphroaig 18.

  12. Hmmm… Honestly, I’ve never had liquor in my life so here is a useless comment for you to read today…🙃

  13. My go to is Glenfiddich 12, love the 15 I recent picked up, but McCallan 25 is amazing but can’t afford it. Got to sample it at a high-end steakhouse was $20 bucks for a wee dram but damn it was good
