We took advantage of a 25% off entire purchase coupon at Bed, Bath, and Beyond to buy new china, tumblers, and other odds and ends, since we’ll be hosting Thanksgiving for the first time in about 30 years. I’ve never before gone into a brick and mortar store for something advertised as a Black Friday sale.

  1. Unintentionally. Didn’t know Black Friday on the Saturday before Black Friday was a thing but apparently some of the stores I visited had sales up already -_-

  2. Target has been advertising “Black Friday” sales since before Halloween. Uh-huh. It’s all meaningless now. Doesn’t BB&B put out those coupons all year round?

  3. Yess! I went to JC Penney just to get a hoodie that was on sale and turned out the whole store was on sale. Picked up Christmas gifts for the fam today instead (:

  4. I don’t do any of it until Black Friday, and usually by noon. Not sure what I’m buying for anyone yet, either.

  5. No. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. Anything right now is just another sale imo but also doesn’t affect my shopping.

  6. I’ve been eye balling bass pro shops, GameStop, and maybe Costco.

Old man rant coming, This Black Friday shit has gotten out of hand. Used to just be Friday, then late on thanksgiving, then all of thanksgiving, then the whole fucking week. Now there are early Black Friday deals starting all of November, “Black Friday month”. Gaddam. All to save on buying shit from China.

I feel for the folks who work retail. Screw that noise, I’m not getting trampled for a TCL tv…

  7. My email is full of “Black Friday” sales that started like 2 weeks ago… I don’t remember it being like this last year, but yes, I have started holiday shopping from “Black Friday” sales.

  8. Not really. Some of the best sales pop up here and there after Black Friday. The problem is that retailers often creep their prices up gradually during October and November so they can “discount” them for Black Friday. With the economy the way it is, they can easily justify the price without appearing too shady. So what might be advertised as a 25% off might only be 5% in reality.

  9. Hell no. I wish I could wipe the concept from the noosphere – it’s doing its best to ruin a lovely family holiday.

  10. I went and picked up some new under armour winter clothing that was on sale at an under armour store

  11. Yes all month, got all my pc parts. but I can’t wait for the actual day, so excited I love this time of the year

  12. My husband and I each bought a tv to use as monitors. Also bought our nephew a birthday toy without realizing it was a Black Friday deal.

  13. Might buy a new computer cause I actually need it but otherwise I don’t just buy stuff because it’s a little bit cheaper.

  14. Black Friday doesn’t mean shit any more. I haven’t been on the hunt for anything for a while anyway, but you get better deals on products by just watching throughout the year for price drops.

  15. No, I already spent a whole bunch of cash over the past 2 weeks buying an old guitar amp made in the late ‘70s and a 4×10 cab for it from the ‘90s

I probably won’t be buying much aside from small gifts for Christmas but that’ll be after Black Friday

  16. Isn’t that just Christmas shopping? How is it Black Friday shopping if it’s not even Black Friday?
