Single parents, how do you choose your new partners specially when there are kids involved?

1. I have no intention of properly dating until my kids are grown up. There is no way a strange man is going to live with my minor children. FWB is my plan. But my minors are teenagers and I am not looking at 15 or more years on my own. And I have absolutely no intention to being a step parent which is another reason I don’t want a proper relationship.

2. My mom was single when I was a kid and her rule is she would have to fully get to know someone before they even met us. So, she would be dating for months and learning a lot about their background/history/intentions before exposing us. Even after that they didn’t sleep over or were left alone with us until she determined that they were trustworthy and long term relationship material. Her kids’ safety was always the priority.
