What niche issue have you written to your congressperson or state legislator about?

  1. This isn’t really a niche issue, but I once called Brendan Boyle’s office to thank him for supporting HR 676.

  2. The government of one of our Allies began targeting American citizens protesting their policies and re-tweeting their posts. I was quite disgusted that an ally would target individual American citizens.

And since members of my states delegation are known to be friendly to said country, I contacted both Senators and our lone congresswoman via e-mail asking them to make a public comment defending our rights.

I received form responses that made it clear they support said ally and did not read my message.

    I wish I could say I’m surprised

  3. I wrote our congressmen and governor about how Saudi Arabia is growing alfalfa in Arizona and getting the water for next to nothing while we are all told we are running out.

  4. I’ve written recently about signing a bill that allows the people of New York to add a new choice to their post-life care: composting!

I’ve written about other things over time, including the (back in the news) Ticketmaster/live nation racket since the late 2010s. @resistbot on twitter made it very easy to do, and so I do it.

  5. Several years ago I wrote my congressman and said I believed Cuban cigars should be imported into The USA. At the time I was an avid cigar smoker.

  6. About how I should be able to cancel a service in the same manner I signed up. Over the summer I switched from Comcast to a fiber ISP. I can sign up for Comcast in about 2 minutes online but to cancel I need to call them, wait on hold for them to be ready, and then finally listen to and deny their final upsell retention pitch. No. Just let me click cancel.

  7. I recently sent emails to my Senators and Representative asking for their vote in favor of giving the Cherokee Nation a non-voting delegate. It was part of a treaty years ago that has never been enacted and it’s time we quit treating Natives as second class citizens.

  8. Just recently I wrote my state rep regarding a ballot measure that passed which would impact my property tax rates as a disabled veteran asking when it went into effect and how I would sign up. I also asked if he would support lane splitting legislation.

  9. Not niche but on February 24th I wrote my representatives urging them to support sending weapons to Ukraine.

  10. About renewing the Airport and Airway Trust Fund which allows the government to collect taxes for aviation costs. About 10 years ago, it lapsed right before Congress went on a recess. I work for the FAA, which is mostly funded by this, so I was furloughed without pay until it was renewed.

Eventually a handful of Congressman called an emergency session to reinstate it, so I didn’t have to wait the full six weeks of the recess. I did get backpay as well

  11. I constantly ask my reps to get rid of daylight time and keep us on standard time all year like we should be.

  12. Every election season i send all of my freshly chosen politicians an email telling them to end speed limits

  13. Wipers on, headlight on law. KY has a really laxed headlight law for when they need to be on. Never heard anything back on it. Not being able to see some cars when its raining is pretty dangerous.

  14. I’ve written my congressional reps to not let the Kroger/Albertson’s merger to go through.

They will own nearly every grocery source in my area.

  15. I wrote my state rep in Virginia once about a proposed gun law I wasn’t fond of (an assault weapons ban). It ended up not getting passed which is nice.

  16. I wrote to Ted Cruz to tell him that he’s a special kind of asshole after our state power grid failure when he went to Cancun. He put me on his mailing list.
