I heard that song is kind of an anthem over in UK but since the song is from the states, I’m curious about the popularity in the states as well.

  1. Yes it’s incredibly popular.

At a bar, if you play everyone will sing it. It’s the sweet Caroline of people under the age of 30.

  2. I’m lukewarm on it.

It’s basically rehashed Greenday or Blink 182 and I already got that in middle school.

  3. I think it’s more popular in the UK among the general population, but my group of friends love the killers. My best friend and I spent a good dozen hours during a late shift + overtime working out the vague murder mystery plot of hot fuss 18 years ago.

  4. Was extremely popular on the radio back when it came out. Still hear it at bars and such quite a bit.

  5. Extremely popular. It still gets air play on pop/mix stations. I heard it at a wedding recently… Seemed like an odd place to play it, but everyone was dancing and singing.

  6. At a piano bar in a college town in ~2017 I frequented it was up there with something like “Sweet Caroline” as far as how many people sang along in the bar.

  7. Yes. As a matter of fact it just came on my shuffle as I opened this thread, and I am currently singing along

  8. IM COMIN OUT OF MY CAGE AND IVE BEEN DOIN *JUST* ***FINE*** GOTTA GOTTA GET DOWN BECAUSE I WANT IT ALL–

    (Yes, it’s still quite popular.)

  9. You ever hear the trope that we all know it word for word but no one ever learned the lyrics

  10. It has become *much* more popular over the last 5 years or so as a response to the idea of it being so popular in the UK.

  11. If you are at a party or bar and play it no other song will have people singing so loud.

  12. Hugely popular. Not quite “Bohemian Rhapsody” or “Don’t Stop Believin” but when it comes on the juke box, everyone sings along.

  13. Watch “Song Exploder” on Netflix – they have a great episode on The Killers. All of the episodes are excellent, actually!

  14. I was just at a club and they played the mix, they also played it at the UofM and Wisconsin game back in 2019. Definitely popular here in America.

  15. It’s Millennial “Don’t Stop Believin’” or “Sweet Caroline.” Anyone who hears it will immediately start singing along. Huge hit, still very present

  16. The song is still super popular and I’d wager always will be. The guitar rift is what makes it recognizable to pretty much anyone.

    “Jealousy!!…”

Blah blah blah into the sea!

    Blah blah blah blah blah!

    Blah blah something calling me!

    Cuz’ I’m Mr. Brightside!

    😂

    I mean…it’s close enough no?
