Hi all, for the last 2 years I’ve been a student at Durham uni and have therefore been living in Durham. I come from a very rural area so this is the first city I’ve lived in.
I really love it here and don’t want to live anywhere else, but I realised that that’s just because I haven’t had any experience living anywhere else, and most cities probably have what I’m looking for.
Last year I failed my exams and have been put on a forced year out, and so I have gotten a job that is based near home but that I can do fully remotely. I am also heavily considering ditching uni and sticking with this job going forwards.
My question to you is: where should I live? It’s getting very hard for me to afford Durham and I recently realised that I can pretty much live anywhere in the country, I just haven’t had enough experience to know where I should go.

Most of the villages and small towns around Durham are so much cheaper (I know I live in one) And I’m only 1/2 hour away from Durham.
Didn’t you post this same question a couple of days ago?
What is it about Durham you like?
The size? The old buildings? The fact you’re a student there living the student life?
Answer that and you’ll be able to narrow it down better (or if it’s the latter, maybe decide to stick with uni).
Newcastle upon Tyne is the place to go.
