Hi all. I live in southern TX and it’s been very hard to meet people. I’m 22 and I moved here just last august and haven’t made 1 friend :/

It’s a pretty conservative area and bars are full of not my kind of people. There’s really no local groups or clubs for my interests (like art, gaming, thrifting, other stuff) or places where I think people like me would hang.

Would it be weird to download an app like tinder or hinge and just say I’m there for friends? I know bumble has a BFF option but it was dead when I used it.

Any suggestions are welcome since I don’t have any friends in general tbh. Thanks!

  1. Bumble BFF worked for me and I’ve made several friends on it having moved across the country! However, I had to be open-minded to the people willing to meet and hang out because no one meets anyone unless you make concrete plans or they do!

  2. If you identify as a woman, then the app “Hey Vina!” Is pretty awesome. Not sure if it’s available in TX, but I used it when I was in DC and had multiple long lasting friendships.
