literature, movies, whatever! I feel like female characters are so often unrecognized or poorly written, and men dominate almost every genre and get to have a range of personalities.

  1. Sally from Practical Magic. She is a strong person, sister, mother, and keeps her wits about her always.

  2. Ms Josephine March, Im still aspiring to be her. Next, Miss Marple, I just love that old lady.

  3. Jane Eyre! I thought how she was able to stay true to her principles even when it meant her turning away from what she wanted was really inspiring.

  4. I think Buffy. She was strong but girly at a time where tom boys were kind of on a pedestal. Love her so much

  5. It’s not as epic as some of these other choices but I like Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series.

  6. Alex Russo, mikasa Ackerman , April ludgate, Faye valentine, hange Zoë, winry rockbell, maki zenin

  7. Commander Shepard. I know you can play her as male too, but FemShep will always be canon to me.

  8. Mai from ATLA, Tomoko from Watamote, and Hinata from Naruto. All three of them remind me of myself in different ways. I rarely see female characters that have the same personality as me.

  9. Jasnah Kholin. She is beautiful, asexual, thoughtful, resilient. Could go on for hours about her.

  10. Nana Osaki from Nana, Sailor Moon and Sailor Neptune, Princess Carolyn from Bojack Horseman. I guess I relate more to animated shows lol.

  11. Who comes to mind for me is Diane from Bojack Horseman. She’s quite unpopular but her and I are similar in many ways. I rarely see female characters that I can relate to on this level.

  12. I really like Bones / Dr temperance brennan. Edit: Also Piper from Charmed

  13. Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex) and Olivier Armstrong plus Izumi Curtis (Fullmetal Alchemist).
