I’ve just come across this concept recently – obviously I know consent to initiate any kind of sexual interaction is very important/ required by law but I’d never thought asking for consent to give your partner an orgasm was a thing.
Is this common? Is it appreciated? Do you feel like it’s a good way to open the channels for communication on how to bring you to orgasm?

Honestly I’d find it pretty weird if he stopped midway through and asked that, I’d also find it weird if he asked me before we’d even started because it’d feel too planned.
I’ve consented to sex so I obviously want to orgasm, there’s no need to ask if they can make me cum.
I think it’s kind of dumb unless it’s part of some sort kink play. If we are having sex then I’ve already given all the consent I need. If you are interrupting me while I’m trying to orgasm then I’m going to be annoyed.

Other people don’t have nearly as much control over whether I orgasm or not as I do, so IMO this is a strange thing to get consent for because the timing of my orgasm is way more my choice than anyone else’s.
If I have consented to sex, my orgasm is an assumed potential outcome of that. If I didn’t want to orgasm, I would say so, or I just wouldn’t have sex.

weird. i think consenting to sex in the first place implies consenting the possibility of an orgasm.
I consent to the different sex acts, I don’t need to explicitly consent to orgasm. Besides that feels within my control, if I really wanted to avoid orgasming I can just think of things to get me out of the mood.
If we’re already having sex, then I don’t know why they’re asking. If they’re already in there, they may as well drive it home.
I guess I’d appreciate it. although I’d rather they not want to in the first place. I mean I’m not going to say no, but like, yknow, at least I could brace myself.
