Comparison site (booking.com, expedia, trivago, google maps) then contact the hotel directly.
For places like booking.com, they often have contractual agreements where the online reseller must be the cheapest advertised online price, even over their own website.
Email the hotel directly with dates and guests and at worst they’ll price match the comparison sites but throw things like breakfast in for free, whereas booking.com will charge for breakfast. Often they’ll be outright cheaper when you email them; not dramatically, but a little.
Contact directly or go on website put in basket and dont checkout, occasionally they will message you offering a discount.
Maybe what you consider overpriced is the going rate?
Booking.com and tripadvisor are usually good starting points, although I prefer to book direct. They are free to charge what they want tough, you cant just expect ‘decent discounts’ on everything. Places giving discounts are usually struggling.
Have you tried Trivago?
Secretescapes? We used them it was great
