My(19f) boyfriend(21m) cheated on me with an old high school mate. He went to school with a girl for one year but admitted a long time ago when I found out he was cheating, they never actually talked during high school. They added each other on social media months ago while we were together and he initiated everything and fell for her, emotionally and sexually. He thinks that since he “met” the girl before me that he didn’t cheat. He makes it seem like he KNEW her for years and they always had a love connection so I can’t get mad but he didn’t actually talk to her until during our relationship.
I don’t necessarily know what to tell him or if I should stop being mad at him since he knew her before me.

You don’t need to stop being mad but you do need to tell him he is not your boyfriend. He isn’t just trash he is working hard to justify his trashy behaviour. Be done with him. He may yet grow up and get better but it’s nothing you need to wait around for.
So in your bfs eyes, you both can be intimate with anyone you knew before you met and it’s fine?
I don’t even think he buys that. He is just trying to find a way out of trouble, and it’s a poor excuse.

What a stupid excuse. It’s the same as saying oops i slipped in front of this person and fell into her and its not really cheating as you slipped…
Keep strong you can do better then him.
It doesn’t matter if he knew her 6 years ago or 6 days ago, he still cheated on you and he’s letting you know he’ll keep doing it since he doesn’t see it as “cheating”. There is no way of saving this relationship when he doesn’t even care about how he made you feel or even apologize for his horrible actions. He’s showing that he doesn’t respect your or your relationship, so why stick around with someone who will continue to treat you like crap and not give it a second thought.
By his reasoning then, he is cheating on her with you. Since that relationship came first. Either way, this is obviously cheating.
