  1. I recently got myself an Alocasia zebrina and a Calathea, easy to keep, beautifull leaves and stems, gets a bit bigger and requires more maintenance then most cacti though

  2. i have a wandering jew that i love! it’s a good houseplant. also maybe look into a box from this website called “succulent studios” as well, they ship plants out with care instructions and the ones i have are doing really well! 🙂

  3. Are you looking for indoor or outdoor plants? I don’t know anything about succulents but I do like my plumeria, but they get quite large so they’re outdoor plants.

  4. OP, you may want to try this: https://www.cosmopolitan.com/style-beauty/fashion/g37224236/gift-ideas-for-plant-lovers/

As someone with a sister who loves plants — she doesn’t like receiving them, but she’s loved some of the “green girl” gifts I’ve given her.

You might also be interested in gifting your girlfriend a cookbook. “Half Baked Harvest” is a trendy instagram cooking account that sells its own cookbooks. I’m in my early twenties and all the girls in my office talk about this lol

  5. Monsteras are really pretty and extremely easy to care for, but they grow big and fast so they aren’t ideal for small spaces. Spider plants and Snake plants are also really good indoor plants that are easy to care for and they don’t grow too big. You can buy them at any box store that has a plant department, but you should check out local nurseries and talk to the sales associates to get their input.

  6. My mom really loves her philodendron—she’s had it since before I was born (so over 27 years) and my ex really liked this fizzy cactus he had. I tried to Google it but for the life of me I can’t figure out the name—it can be found in the plant section at Lowe’s! It’s soft-spined and like, drapes over the pot

  7. What about finding some cute plant store and taking her there instead? Let her choose all the plants or tools or whatever she wants, make a day out of it.

  8. If you’re not sure she’d like the plants you got, maybe some really cool or unique pots and a little gift card to a nursery or something so she can pick out the plants 🙂

  9. Christmas/easter cacti, spider plants, pothos, monstera, ZZ, snake….these are all really easy to grow or generally low maintenance similar to what she has already

  10. Pothos and Peperomia plants are great for indoors, was never much of a plant person but got a couple pothos a few years ago and now have close to a dozen in my apartment and really enjoy seeing them grow.

  11. I am honestly just happy to hear someone else say this is a hobby… thank you! Honestly, I would stop by a couple of nurseries close to you. The varieties are endless! What speaks to you? What would remind her of you?

  12. If I had the time, space, and a green thumb, I’d be looking to get a monilaria obconica because they look positively adorable

  13. Calethia Ornatas are my absolute favorite. They are very expressive so it’s easy to tell when they need watr or sunlight.

  14. A small variety of succulents, maybe one or two that produce flowers of her favorite colors.

Take pictures of her plants. Go to nursery, using the picture you can sort out maybe to an extent which species she already has or not.

I personally think Jade, Chicken and Hens are really neat plants but they’re also somewhat common and she may have them. Chicken and Hens come in many varieties and tend to be heavy producers.

  15. String of hearts or string of pearls are cute and relatively easy! Also love the look of lithops.

  16. If in doubt – as someone suggested, photos of what plants she has, and ask a nursery person. Or get a nursery voucher and some gardening gloves, a pretty plant pot, something that the voucher can be wrapped with/placed in, that’s plant related.

Everyone like different pot plants. I have orchids, I have different succulents in small pots, ivy in a small pot, devils ivy, pepperomia, smallish pot of sansevieria cylindrical, phildondron Burkin in a smallish pot (it has variegated leaves), pilea peperomoides. A couple of hoya in smallish pots and a vanilla bean orchid.

I have big pots with plants too – but figured smaller indoor pots?
