So I don’t live with my gf, I was at home and I received a text from her saying a guy hit on her at the bar. I said something like “oh okay”. Then she said that she felt proud and happy about that.
So I said “you can keep this things to yourself lol”.
So she felt bad because I gave her the wrong role by being upset, she said that she only loves me so it doesn’t matter that someone hit on her since she always reject them. According to her it was an ego boost and she was just happy to share it. So now I feel bad because I feel like an overprotective asshole and kinda toxic.
So reddit was I in the wrong ? Or is my feeling legitimate?

Its a bit her fault and a bit yours. So I’d call it a wash. She could have said in her first message, it was an ego boost to her and that’s why she was sharing it, so you’d know what she meant. You could have asked her why she was sharing it, instead of assuming what she meant. Shit like this happens. Hug it out and you’ll be fine.

Sort of both…. she was happy to boast to someone that she still gets hit on. Which especially to a woman, it makes us feel wanted and appreciated.
But it’s weird that she would contact you, her boyfriend. Unless you wanted to know about it…. or you both get a kick out of it (ex: omg this dude was trying so hard! Lol!). But I wouldn’t tell my bf because I don’t want to make him think I may cheat in him.

It’s perfectly fine to be like “you don’t have to tell me these things, I have no interest in hearing it”.
The only right or wrong is what works for both of you.

You saw it as “right, just what I want to know, that you’re being hit on at the bar w booze.”
Neither is wrong, however it’s a great opportunity to talk about boundaries and improve your overall communication as a couple!
Personally when I was married – hated hearing about it.
Now that I’m seeing someone else – I love hearing about other guys wanting to get w her – they can’t – but I can 😜.
