The lyrics really never tell us who was named Bingo. Please resolve.

  1. It was the dog. Sadly we will never know the infamously spelling and clapping farmer’s name. He is lost to history.

  2. There was a farmer had a dog

    And BINGO was his name-o

    B-I-N-G-O

    B-I-N-G-O

    B-I-N-G-O

    And BINGO was his name-o

It could be the farmer. Did Bingo have a dog or did the farmer have a dog named Bingo.

    One of life’s great mysteries

  3. I have wondered this my entire life. This post inspired me to [the original version of the song](https://allnurseryrhymes.com/bingo-song/) which confirms the dog is in fact ‘little Bingo.’ Which leaves open the possibility that the farmer was Big Bingo.

    It also includes verses like:

The farmer lov’d a cup of good ale,
He call’d it rare good stingo.
    S—T with an I — I with an N,
    N with a G — G with an O;
He call’d it rare good stingo:
    S—T—I—N—G—O!

  4. >please resolve

Alright everybody, by the power invested in me by myself, I hereby declare that Bingo is the name of the dog.

    Issue resolved.

  5. I’d like to think it was the farmer. And the farmer was actually an intergalactic bounty hunter that used his farm as a cover identity.

    Or maybe it’s the dog.
