I got laid off due to circumstances related to the COVID pandemic, and I didn’t work for a long while. Since then, I’ve gotten a new job, made some new friends, but I couldn’t help but feel my social skills never really got back to where they were before. I am much more prone to just having nothing to say in response than I feel I ever have been (excluding awkward teenage years, of course). I find myself just not wanting to speak at all sometimes.

  1. Believe me, most of us feel this way. I’m quite extroverted, and still feel awkward. Embrace it, we’re all in the same boat

  2. I feel the same, sometimes talking feels so tiring now. It never used to. I used to be quite the conversationalist, Covid, and being a stay at home mom changed all that. I don’t talk to anyone now besides the baristas at Starbucks.
