What is the difference between “i love you” and “I’m in love with you” ?

  1. “in love” — romantic connotation

“I love you” — neutral, can be romantic or otherwise

  2. The former can be platonic and said to a friend, family member, pet etc while the latter implies romantic feelings.

  3. Huge difference.

I can love a partner, but I can *not* be in love with them.

In love on the other hand, I also love.

You can work all you want on loving someone, sure, love is a choice.

But to be blessed with someone who you are *in love* with? Every day would be magic. Even the difficult times. Only the lucky ones get to be with the one they’re in love with.

  4. I love you is ambiguous with *type* of love. Romantic, family, or friend love?

I’m in love you with is clearly romantic love
