If I’m (22m) hanging out with a new friend or acquaintance, they might casually ask about my dating life, and I tell them I’m not very active or not social, to which they respond incredulously, “Why?!?,” like there’s something wrong with me.
I don’t get why people get so weirded out by this, I’ve always assumed that most people my age are single. I could understand that response from someone if I was 10 years older, though that’s still pretty rude.
Bottom line, I feel pretty ashamed when people say this, and I don’t really know the right way to respond to these comments other than saying that I’m just not very outgoing.
Are people just more active than I expect? I get people are just trying to make conversation, but I’m just a shy, regular looking guy and I don’t know why people feel the need to be so mean.
