Explore the city and don’t be on your phone when you’re exploring
I’ve had some pretty cool conversations with homeless people. Bring em a sandwich and eat a meal with somebody. It’ll be good for both of you. Just obviously be careful.

School, take lessons on something, join a club.
Start doing BJJ. There are multiple clubs in most city’s round the world, most clubs are filled with friendly people, with no egos looking for self
improvement. And rolling around on the floor trying to choke each other out / catch arm bars is a great way to break the ice if you don’t like small talk.
Consistency is probably most important. Not for me, but I know many game stores/ libraries host tabletop game nights if you’re into that. Also you could find somewhere to volunteer regularly. Or maybe take a class for fun.
