I (19f) met a guy (21m) that I really like. He checks all my boxes and is just all around basically my ideal person. We have gone on a couple dates and we get along well. Family is really important to me and so finding someone like this is a priority in my life. At this point in my life I’m looking at a lot of prospects for my future and considering options such as the Coast guard or applying to out of state colleges. At the end of the day I prioritize family over everything, but I also prioritize my career and I’m not sure how to balance those two things when accepting those opportunities might mean leaving this guy. On one hand we’ve only known each other for a short time and I don’t want to let myself be clouded by emotions but I also think that he would be a good future for me. I want both of these opportunities I.e. to not sacrifice our relationship or my future plans. I have thought that we could do long distance or I could stay here and do online school/community college while we build a life here. Outside of him and my other family members I do not have much of a life here.

  1. I would suggest against long distance. I would also suggest against staying in your home town for this guy. Might be wise to distance yourself and find someone in college or the coast guard.
