  1. New Mexican.

Like how someone from New York calls themselves a New Yorker, not a Yorker

  2. This will blow your mind. Mexican isn’t a race. So even is you were from Mexico, you would be Mexican, regardless of race…

    And New Mexico<>Mexico

  3. not really sure how people have difficulty with demonyms but no, Mexican means you are from Mexico.

  4. Well… they can, but would be misleading since the person is from New Mexico and not Mexico, so they would be New Mexican. Also, Mexican is not a race.

  5. You’re batting 0 for 2 OP.

    Mexican isn’t a race, it’s a nationality.

Mexican is the demonym for Mexico. *New Mexican* is the demonym for New Mexico.

  6. New Mexico is a state in the United States of America. The people living there are New Mexicans, and Americans. Many may be of Mexican heritage.

But living in New Mexico does not make you Mexican in any way.
