Sending my annual flapjack Christmas presents to friends. Worried they will get caught up and spoilt in strike delays.
So I want to hear from you kind redditors what alternatives options are there?

  1. Evri (formerly known as Hermes). I can send stuff with them from our village shop which is open 7 days a week, until 10pm. The village post office arrives in the back of a car, in the village hall, on Monday mornings.

I know a lot of people have issues with Evri (by any name) but our delivery people have always been really nice, efficient and reliable.

  2. I’ll be your friend if you send me some of those delicious flapjacks. I won’t complain if they are late. haha

  3. Use interparcel to pick your courier and pay, I normally go for DPD or UPS. We also use DPD daily at work for thousands of shipments and they have a very low damage/loss rate.

Even with all the Black Friday influx they had a small percentage of parcels delayed by a single day.

  4. Evri/Hermes are the worst.

Parcelforce, DPD, Yodel, DHL are the best

FedEx and UPS are good but not great

  5. I like Evri. I can pay online, print the label, and take it to a nearby 24 hour parcel locker. Which is also easy to park at. Or leave them at a local shop, which isn’t so easy to park at. Others offer the same sort of service too. Of course if you Google, you’ll find horror stories about every single carrier in the market – including RM.
