Playing this game, I made a friend. We’re both pretty good.

It’s nice when you run into competent players that you know you can rely on, and we get along. It’s all good.

But I realized that I enjoy the randomness of games where you run into various quality of players, and while playing with him got the urge to stop and just queue up for whoever I get paired with instead of this dude who is so good it makes the game kind of easy at times. I don’t think that’s why, I just felt like doing something else at the time. We’ll play again later.

But I figured that being honest and saying basically “I’m not feeling like duo-queuing atm, I’m just gonna go hit the solo fast queue button,” would hurt his feelings, be rude, etc.. At the same time I really dislike being dishonest.

So I said I wanted to take a break, and then stopped playing for a while since we’re friends on steam and if I go invisible and play there’s a decent chance I run into him. Lol.

I’m just wondering in this situation, what’s the best thing to say? Was lying to avoid what seems like a no-win communication of honesty right? How does one reach the level of chill to be honest here without being a dick?

  1. Eh, just be honest about it bro. The world doesn’t revolve around him. If you ain’t feeling like playing duo, just say it. Better than be caught lying, then he will have reasons to think that you’re actually avoiding his friendship.

Same thing when someone asks if you wanna hang out. You lie, and if you’re caught on your lie, it’s way worse than if you were simply honest about it and said you weren’t in the mood.
