1. Emily Gilmore comes to mind but I’m sure I’m overlooking people who were much worse–

   don’t get me wrong, she was a badass character in the show, but she [and marty] weren’t fair to their kids

4. It’s been a while but Karen from One Tree Hill sucked.

   Lucas stopped playing basketball because he realized who his dad was and felt bad that his mom had to see him all the time. Also Lucas had to find out because he got teased by the other kids, she didn’t think to tell him “hey that kid you play basketball with is actually your brother”

   Then when he rejoined as a teenager she wasn’t supportive until Keith talked her into it. And even then refused to go to his first game because she would have to see her ex boyfriend from 17 years ago.

   Then when her kid confronts her about missing his first game, he somehow ends up apologizing to her even though he was right.

   Didn’t she also blame Lucas for Keith’s death for a while?

5. Beverly Hofstadter. She raised Leonard as an experiment instead of a child, fuck that.

6. Cersei Lannister comes to mind.

7. Peggy Bundy from Married With Children.

8. Archer’s mom Malory / Lucile from arrested development. Pretty much the same character in cartoon & live action with the same actress. Love to hate her but goddamn I’m glad she’s not my mom

9. Livia Soprano, though she was my favorite character while she was alive. I feel like her characterization partially inspired Beatrice Horseman who I definitely agree is way up there in the abusive mom club.
