am I too much?

I (25f) have been with my bf (28m) for about 8 months. Relationship has been progressing and Ian happy for the most part. But sometimes he either makes a joke when I ask him a serious question or he doesn’t really check in on me( if he doesn’t it stops at one question). I get that you can’t expect the same things you do for them but is it too much to ask for some attention and reassurance. He’s amazing in person but online, there’s so many quiet voids. He is work from home and about every 2 weeks he is on-call so he stays up late. He’s busy ( I get it, we all are) but it doesn’t take a lot to type a quick message or check in. Am I asking for a lot here? This issue keeps coming up at least once a month where I feel upset and kinda lonely after it takes place

Tldr: is asking for reassurance and simple check ins a lot to ask for
