I started sixth form a couple of months ago after moving house. One of my classes everyone knows each other and gets along well apart from me because I’m new. Everyone sits together apart from me as I sit on my own. I was thinking about trying to sit with the other people and make friends in my class but am worried about making them feel uncertain or taking the piss out of me because of it. Is it a good idea to sit next with them or should I stay on my own?

  1. Just go sit with them. You could even say “hey do you mind if I sit here?” as you do it. It would be really weird of them to say no, especially now you’re all in 6th form.

  2. Maybe try and speak to a couple of them about the class, ask for help/opinions on something maybe separately outside the classroom.

Try a soft introduction that way and let them start to get used to you. Also yes sit nearer don’t be overtly separate.
