Hi all, as the title says, I’m trying to figure out how the difference so I can self diagnose.

From my understanding, DE is being unable to orgasm 30mins or more despite being stimulated. Does this mean that the person can actually feel pleasure but still unable to push to the point of orgasm?

Or is it like a subset of deathgrip where you don’t feel any pleasure from sex and can’t stimulate enough to orgasm.

  1. DE is a medical diagnosis. They need to have some arbitrary boundary so… 30 minutes it is. Some people are absolutely FINE with going WAY longer than 30 minutes.

The real question here is this: is it bothering you in your sex life? If no, then don’t overthink.

If yes, then perhaps try some of the traditional “fixes” like laying off of porn/masturbation for a while.

  2. My bf has DE due to his taking SSRI’s. It means we can fuck for an hour and a half before he cums. He enjoys it the whole time we’re messing around and I loooove it when I finally make him cum. It’s super exciting. We’ll do foreplay, oral, fuck for a bit, relax for a little bit, then start over.

So yes. He feels pleasure the whole time. It just takes a while.

  3. Deathgrip is the cause of DE (in some cases). DE is sometimes defined by the 30 min timeframe but also ”and it causes stress/suffering”. People can be born with a different level of sensitivity or it can be caused by medication, hormones, masturbation habits.

Deathgrip describes the way some men masturbate with a too tight grip and excessive porn use. It can lead to desensitized penis, and difficulty of orgasming (the DE).
