Whenever I’m talking to someone and I look at them they always end up laughing. Then they get a bit hostile and treat me like I’m a special case. I’m not ugly or attractive just regular looking from what I’ve been told.. I tend to just look at people straight in their eye.. but I’m not sure if it’s making me look cross eyed or something.. Is there like a special place to look when talking to someone?

  1. It may be that you’re simply staring too intently? Like, not emoting while you do it?

I feel most people actually don’t make constant eye contact for long periods of time. You’ll notice that when people take a moment to think in a conversation, their eyes shift away a bit.

So people do it, but with lots of natural breaks and mostly to judge a reaction to what they are saying. And if they find a neutral face, then they react awkwardly.

At least from what I have observed.
