Men that are fans of anime (specially shonen/seinen), what shoujo/josei animes do you admit that you like and want people to talk more about?

  1. I watch a ton of animes and have a ton of ones people should talk more about, but I have absolutely no freaking idea what shoujo and josei means.

  2. A lot of yuri honestly. But I don’t crave for people to talk about them more. There are already a handful of communities that I can go to to discuss them.

  3. I’m not sure if it’s considered shojo or not, but the new Fruits Basket is amazing and I think everyone should watch it.

  4. I’ll admit that I like anime if people bring it up, but it’s not something I’ll casually throw out there. Sometimes I’ll wear anime related clothing, like the other day I was wearing my orochimaru “me too shirt”. Hell I had a date the other day, and while driving to our destination I had on the Naruto ost.

I do have a set of friends that would be considered nerds/geeks. I can talk anime and gaming with then. I think it’s wise to have different friend groups for hobbies you like.

  5. Not sure if these all count, but I admit that I really like “My Dress-up Darling” and “Don’t Toy With Me, Nagatoro.” There have been a few others in the past, such as “Love Hina” and “Ah, My Goddess” that are classics to the genre to me.

  6. Nana. I’ve never been so attracted to a group of fictional characters before (I don’t think I’m even attracted to my real friends that much).
I watched it for the first time last year and it’s made it into one of my top favorites. I still think about it a couple times a week.

  7. *Fruits Basket* and *Yona of the Dawn* are the only ones that come to mind at the moment, but *Yona of the Dawn* is seriously amazing. I’m going to be so sad when the manga ends just because it’ll be over.

edit: Oh! How could I forget?! *Flip Flappers*! Dunno what demographic it falls under but the limited edition bluray set is girly as hell and I love it.

  8. Reading these comments, I’m wondering if manga readers are more likely to know what those terms mean because they are often the original sources for anime, so a lot of minor genre details get filtered out

  9. I usually dont care what kind of genre it belongs to as long as i like it. I love pokemon, although it is ending💔💔

  10. I enjoy the shoujo anime “Fruits Basket” and the josei anime “Nana.” Both series have engaging storylines and well-developed characters. I also appreciate the unique art styles of each show. I think they are underrated and would love to see more discussions about them.

  11. There are a lot of rom-com shoujo that I enjoy reading. Some really good romance josei too.

It’s weird, when it comes to western movies and shows I’m totally indifferent to romance and rom com themes but for some reason, I love it when it comes to anime/manga.

  12. I’ve been watching the classics, Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura. It’s so refreshing to see the main characters be into boys in a way that it’s not seen as a problem or that their attraction makes them “stupid” and something they need to get over, which is weird to say for animes which are so old.

  13. Not really anime, but I like to read lots of manga and lately I’ve been consuming so much shojo like “Komi can’t communicate” and “Suki na ko ga megane wo wasureta.”

The first one is hilarious and the second one is just too adorable!

  14. I don’t really watch much shonen anime. Mostly slice of life. Two of the HS club genre, not sure if they count as shoujo though, are kono oto tomare, which is about a koto club, and chihayafuru. Love both of these. Pretty standard story arc for any HS club/sports anime but great characters and love the focus.

I’ve read all of the Yona of the Dawns and Fruits Baskets but haven’t watched the animes.

  15. I used to like Shoujo stuff until I noticed many of them had actually pretty bad male leaders, like Itazura no Kiss or Nana. It makes me wonder if women does like to be treated like trash if the guy is handsome.

Indeed, Lovely Complex is kinda fun, Ore Monogatari too (even more because I’m kinda alike Takeo), Ore Monogatari imo grasp well what kind of role I want in a relationship. Wotakoi is great.

I liked Honey and Clover on overall.

    I’m more a Mecha guy.

  16. Fairy Tail, I love it. I saw it on Netflix and thought why not am done with got. Best decision I’ve ever made. After years of watching it on and off am finally at the end. Am taking my time so the journey last a bit longer
