Investing in your emotional connection to something.
It means spending time, energy, and emotions on that relationship or topic. If someone is emotionally invested in something, then it matters to them and they have feelings about it rather than being neutral.

The lack of it means that you’ve chosen not to invest your time, energy, or emotions in that situation. If someone is not emotionally invested, then they don’t really care or engage their emotions on that topic
Allowing yourself to be vulnerable connecting to someone, investing some planned quality time and putting efforts to sustain that connection.
Lack of it means you don’t really care about the connection if it exists or not, it would be all the same to you.
Edit to add: what really makes me feel like some BIG EMOTIONAL INVESTMENT is when those planned quality time events happen, to give and receive undivided attention.
Giving a shit. Giving your time and energy and love. Caring.
To me, emotional investment means caring deeply about something or someone. It can also mean putting a lot of time and energy into something in order to achieve a goal.
