Learning how to drive.
Drinking beer with gramps and sharing dating stories while looking at girls on the beach.
I just lost my father recently and I always appreciated his time with me whether it be just talking or helping him in his garden. I miss his guidance.🥹
Getting to fly a kite for the first time.
My grandpa taught me to do almost everything…but the best memories of him are just *being there* and always willing to help or take me anywhere. He cared so hard about me and everyone he met in life.
My grandpa used to take us to a local arcade and play the games with us.
My dad used to have breakfast at the same local diner at mostly the same time each day. I could just roll up and sit down with him and his friends and order my favorite breakfast whenever I wanted, and he loved me doing it.
Now he’s gone, and that diner is some shitshack of a mediocre pizza joint.
I didn’t have a father growing up so I relied on my friends fathers and learned how to fix things or general outdoor work.
I realize I don’t have one. Grandfathers dead before I was born, never enjoyed time with my dad, he was not a likeable guy to a kid and by the time I grew up it was awkward. Have very little in common with my father, which is part of it.
Father: He taught me how to fish.
Grandfather: Taught me fear is important in life but it’s not something you should have of everything.
Uncle: He taught me why life is worth living and who it’s worth living for.
Dad: our roadtrip to South Carolina in 2017 for the solar eclipse. We make a point of doing a father-son trip every year, but that one in particular is my favorite – even if I did get a traffic ticket on our way back, lol. I am very blessed to have him as my dad, and I make sure to tell him every day.
Grandfather: teaching me how to use sanding blocks in his workshop. I was not yet four when he died, but he was a very kind man, and that particular memory has stuck with me ever since.
I was 13. My grandfather was drunk one night and had to get something from the store. So he taught me how to drive😂
When I showed dad the a riff I learned on the guitar. It was a song from his music collection that he thought I’d like.
The genuine smile on his face and the excitement in his eyes is something I’ll never forget.
i miss him
Going to work in the forest with my grandad saturday afternoon, then we would go to the stadium watch the match and then home where grandma had prepared a delicious dinner.
My grand-parents have been the best persons in my life for many years.
