What is your favorite memory with your father, grandfather, or other male figure that fell into a “role model” role for you?

  1. I just lost my father recently and I always appreciated his time with me whether it be just talking or helping him in his garden. I miss his guidance.🥹

  2. My grandpa taught me to do almost everything…but the best memories of him are just *being there* and always willing to help or take me anywhere. He cared so hard about me and everyone he met in life.

  3. My dad used to have breakfast at the same local diner at mostly the same time each day. I could just roll up and sit down with him and his friends and order my favorite breakfast whenever I wanted, and he loved me doing it.

Now he’s gone, and that diner is some shitshack of a mediocre pizza joint.

  4. I didn’t have a father growing up so I relied on my friends fathers and learned how to fix things or general outdoor work.

  5. I realize I don’t have one. Grandfathers dead before I was born, never enjoyed time with my dad, he was not a likeable guy to a kid and by the time I grew up it was awkward. Have very little in common with my father, which is part of it.

  6. Father: He taught me how to fish.
Grandfather: Taught me fear is important in life but it’s not something you should have of everything.
Uncle: He taught me why life is worth living and who it’s worth living for.

  7. Dad: our roadtrip to South Carolina in 2017 for the solar eclipse. We make a point of doing a father-son trip every year, but that one in particular is my favorite – even if I did get a traffic ticket on our way back, lol. I am very blessed to have him as my dad, and I make sure to tell him every day.

Grandfather: teaching me how to use sanding blocks in his workshop. I was not yet four when he died, but he was a very kind man, and that particular memory has stuck with me ever since.

  8. I was 13. My grandfather was drunk one night and had to get something from the store. So he taught me how to drive😂

  9. When I showed dad the a riff I learned on the guitar. It was a song from his music collection that he thought I’d like.

The genuine smile on his face and the excitement in his eyes is something I’ll never forget.

    i miss him

  10. Going to work in the forest with my grandad saturday afternoon, then we would go to the stadium watch the match and then home where grandma had prepared a delicious dinner.

My grand-parents have been the best persons in my life for many years.
